We all feel a little angry from time to time. It might be because your sister or brother won’t let you watch your favourite TV show. You may get mad when someone says something mean about you, or even when your parents want you to clean your room before you go out to play. Anger is a normal and natural feeling but it can be dangerous if you let it get out of hand. It’s important to know that when you get mad there are good ways and bad ways of working with your anger.

Why do we get angry?
At some point everyone will get angry or mad. It could be from hormones which are natural chemicals in the body which can cause mood. It could be that you are a person who feels their emotions strongly. You may also behave the way you’ve seen older role models act. Sometimes people who get mad are acting out about other emotions that they aren’t sharing. In any case it is important to understand how to control your anger and better ways of showing it.

What can you do if your anger is out of control?
If you are getting into a lot of fights or always feel mad inside you should get help dealing with your anger.  Parents, teachers, and counsellors are ready to listen to you and can help you find out why you are angry.
